With the cost of living crisis at the moment, we are having to be more thrifty than ever, so creating recipes that are not only cheap, but also delicious is a challenge we can all benefit from.
And to make it even more interesting, I'm exploring all the leading UK supermarkets, next up Aldi with this Chorizo & Mushroom Pot Pie, Roast Potatoes, and Carrots.

Hopefully, we can all discover some fantastic, cost-effective family meal ideas together.
Stay tuned for updates on my thrifty food adventures, and let's see how creative we can get with that £5 budget!
Aldi is considered one of the cheaper supermarkets, so I knew this one would be a lot easier.
Now I am including a couple of items that you should already have in your cupboards at home, such as stock, salt, pepper etc.
Chorizo & Mushroom Pot Pie, Roast Potatoes, and Carrots
Total cost £4.85
This is a super tasty pot pie, and there is plenty to go around. You'll also have some potatoes left over for another meal.
It's really simple to make too.
Of course you could have mash instead of roast potatoes too.
1 sheet ready rolled puff pastry
1 pack Chorizo slices
1 pack sliced mushrooms
White Potatoes
Chantenay Carrots
Ingredients from the cupboard:
Gravy Granules
Salt and pepper
Low calorie spray
Instructions:
Slice the chorizo into small strips.
Spray a frying pan with low calorie cooking spray.
Add the mushrooms and chorizo and fry off.
Add 2 tablespoons of gravy granules with 300ml boiling water.
Season with salt and pepper and reduce to simmer.
Meanwhile prepare the roast potatoes/mash and boil the carrots.
Add the chorizo mix to a large oven proof dish. Allow to cool slightly then add the pastry over the top.
Cook in the oven until pastry is golden brown.
