KFC Zinger Style Flatbreads Recipe | Fakeaway Recipe

A delicious KFC-style Fakeaway recipe for crispy spicy chicken in mini flatbreads. A perfect little sharer recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts, cut into 4 smaller strips
  • 80g bran flakes or cornflakes
  • 1 egg, beaten
KFC style seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoon chilli powder (adjust to suit spice taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
To serve
  • Sriracha mayo (or 2 tablespoons of low-fat mayo mixed with 1/2 teaspoon paprika and 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • lettuce
  • 4 slices of burger cheese
for the flatbreads
  • 75 g self-raising flour, plus a little extra for dusting
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 75 g natural yoghurt

Instructions

  1. Crush up the bran flakes/cornflakes with a rolling pin to form finer crumbs
  2. Add in the seasoning mix and mix to combine
  3. Add the egg to one bowl, and dip in the chicken. Then drop it in the breadcrumbs. Top tip: use a different hand to dip the chicken in the egg than you do to touch the chicken when you add it to the breadcrumbs. This prevents breadcrumbing your own fingers!
  4. Repeat if needed to coat the chicken
  5. Add to the air fryer on the air fryer setting for 15 minutes (see conversion chart to oven cook)
  6. Meanwhile, mix the flatbread ingredients together to form a dough, then roll out flat. Cut out into 4 smaller 1cm rounds, roughly 2mm to 3mm thick.
  7. Spray a frying pan with low-calorie cooking spray and on cook each one on a high heat for 1 to 2 minutes on each side, or until browned and puffed up.
  8. Serve the sliders with cheese, lettuce and mayo
