You either love pickled gherkins, or you hate them. I personally absolutely
adore them! One of my favourite ways to have them is the American Fried
Pickles style.
They are usually made with breadcrumbs and a batter, and of course are normally deep fried.

I've recently got really into TikTok, and saw a video on there of someone
using their Air Frier to make some fried pickles, so this inspired me to
make my own.
Did you know you can remove the paddle of your Actifry?
Removing the paddle means it doesn't have the full rotation, but means you can
'fry' lot's of breaded items in there,
like KFC fakeaway. This opens up a whole new world of items that can be cooked in there!

Air Fried Pickles Recipe

You will need:
1 tsp Cajun seasoning
1 tsp mixed herbs
` slice of wholemeal bread, blitzed up to make breadcrumbs.
3 large pickled gherkins, cut into slices
1 egg
salt & pepper
Low calorie cooking spray
Optional to serve (2 syns):
2 tablespoon extra light mayonnaise
1 tablespoon fat free fromage frais
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried chives
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper
1 tablespoon pickle juice
1 tablespoon fat free fromage frais

Method:
Mix together the Cajun seasoning, mixed herbs, a pinch of salt and
pepper and the bread crumbs.
In a separate bowl, crack the egg and whisk well. Add 1 tablespoon of
pickle juice to the egg.
Dip the slices of pickle into to the egg and then the breadcrumbs.
Repeat until they are all evenly coated.
Add to the air frier, and space them all evenly apart. Make sure you
have removed the paddle if there is one!
Spray with low calorie cooking spray, then set for 5 minutes.
Turn all of the fried pickles over, then set for another 5 minutes.
Add all the ranch dressing ingredients together and mix well.
Remove the pickles from the Air frier and serve!
