How to Eat Out and Stay Healthy on a Date

*This is a contributed post*

So you just lined up a date and they want to take you out to eat. You give their profile on
One Night Friend a quick look and see that they are into greasy red meats. How will your healthy eating regimen stay intact? We are going to take a look at some of the ways that you can go out for a dinner date and still maintain your healthy diet. That way, you can look forward to your date instead of dreading the calorie counts on the menu.

Avoid Alcohol and Places Based Around Consuming It

The first thing that you can do with regards to eating out and staying healthy is avoiding alcohol
or going to places where that is the sole attraction. You might want to go to a pub for dinner but the fact of the matter is that there will be a lot of pressure to grab a drink, and alcohol is not great for most healthy diets.

Of course, there are lighter options, but make sure that your date isn’t going to take you out to a night club where you’ll be handed sugar-laden drinks all night.

Research Your Venues

The next thing that you can do to ensure that you will be healthy while you’re dating is to research your date venues. If you’re going out to a particular restaurant, then you will have access to a lot of their information by virtue of the internet. Most of the restaurant sites will show you a full menu so that you can start to prepare accordingly for the meal that you plan to eat there.

While there will be a nice burger for your date, you will be able to get the relatively healthy chicken over pasta. As long as you know what your options are, you will be ahead of the curve for your healthy date.

Calculate Calories Ahead of Time

Another way that you can eat out with a date and stay healthy is by being mindful of your calories by counting them ahead of time. Many restaurants out there are trying to give their customers as much  information as they can to ensure that they are healthy.

That means you can find a lot of calorie information and count them in an app to ensure that you are not going too crazy with your eating. This is a good practice, but don’t let it run your life. If your date wants to share a piece of cake, realise that it is not something that is going to happen every day so it’s not a bad idea to indulge.

Remember that All Calories Add Up!

The final way that you can customise a date so that you can stay healthy is by watching out for the little things that add a lot of sugar and calories to your overall intake. For example, make sure that you don’t get a lot of soda refills or empty the bread basket while you’re waiting for dinner. The little things with calories add up quickly and it can sink an otherwise great attempt at being healthy.

All in all, there are plenty of ways that you can eat out and stay healthy. Avoiding alcohol, checking out the venues beforehand, track calories before leaving home, and being mindful of the small things that add up on calories are just some of the most useful ways.

It’s also important to keep in mind that a date is something that doesn’t happen every day, so it’s a good idea to treat yourself when you can!
