It was a lovely rainy day in Exeter, after a loooong heat wave in the city. It's so nice to see that wet stuff coming out the sky! It also makes for perfect moody picture of the wonderful view from our table at Côte.
Côte has long been one of my favourite places for evening meals, but I had never tried a breakfast or brunch there, even though I had heard great things.
French Breakfast- Two scrambled eggs, boudin noir (Franch black pudding), French streaky bacon and a field mushroom on toasted brioche. The eggs were perfectly scrambled and were a wonderful complement to the smoky streaky bacon and sweet brioche.
It was really nice to have something a little different from a full English breakfast, but with similar flavours. The mushroom was full of flavour.
I loved the Côte jugs of water, and the coffee was the perfect blend.
This is a Croque Madame- Classic toasted ham and Gruyère cheese sandwich with a fried egg on top! This was enjoyed by my boyfriend, but the bread itself was a little soggy from all the cheese, which was a shame. The flavours were wonderful and it was a generous portion.
It would be rude to not try croissants when in a French restaurant! These were super tasty and served with proper butter and delicious jam. My only disappointment was that the croissants were cold, I love a warm one!
