Kings is a 10 minute drive from Exmouth Town Centre and sell a range of gardening and leisure products, as well as having a restaurant on site. My Nan and Granddad took me for lunch in the restaurant and at first I was a bit dubious at the thought of eating in a garden centre, but I had no reason to be.
We went on a Sunday afternoon and the 250 seat restaurant was packed. There was a wide range to choose from on the menu, from pies to roast dinners, and as it was a Sunday we chose the latter. I opted for a plated roast beef, Nick went for pork and my Grandparents went for Turkey.
I am very fussy with my roast dinners, and always prefer a carvery so that I can pick what I like, but there was no need to do that here. There was a good selection of perfectly cooked veg including cauliflower, carrots, suede, cabbage and Brussels sprouts. The roasts all had gravy on them, but a separate gravy boat was delivered with the meals, as well as the offer of additional roast potatoes at no extra cost (which is a winner for me!). My beef was cooked so well that it literally melted in the mouth, yet was still full of flavour, and I have it on good authority that the other meats were cooked just as well. As well as the meat being delicious there was plenty of it too which is great as sometimes at a carvery they can be quite stingy. There is no fuss with this restaurant and all of their attentions have been placed on making good food.
As well as all the food on the menu they have a really wide range of home baked cakes and you can even buy some whole cakes to take home from their shop, which also stocks a lot of local produce for example Four Elms Fruit juice. I really wanted one of their cakes as they all looked so appetising, but I was very satisfyingly full from the generous roast portion. I couldn't resist some of their home baked scones to have for my tea, and my Nan and Grandad kindly got me some for later!
Nick and I were both really impressed, and could totally understand why it was so busy in there. A nice afternoon out with very enjoyable, reasonably priced food. You can find them online here
